Ethos

These are the tenants that shape the way we do business and the way I make perfume and teach.

I hope they resonate with you.

XOXO-Nuri

EMBRACE
THE BREVITY OF TIME
AND THE
IMMEDIACY OF PLEASURE

Memento Mori, remember that you will die, remember that nothing will last forever.

Memento Mori is at the heart of our worldview. I was deeply moved at university while studying the philosopher Ernest Becker, and it changed my life. I want to remind us every day that our time is precious, that it is our own, and that it is a finite resource. Our time is to be fought for, celebrated and enjoyed. I want to create olfactive mementos that reminds you to seize the day.

THE

BEAUTIFUL

IS

ALWAYS BIZARRE

We are weirdos. We are not trying to be anything other than ourselves. We are not for everyone, and that’s ok. I don’t strive to make a perfume that will be the most inoffensive mass-appeal product on the market. Those already exist and there are great companies that do them very well. I’m trying to make the perfect product for essentially just one person at a time.

WE ARE
STEWARDS
NOT
MASTERS

We are blessed to receive this amazing bounty of materials from both nature and science. We need to protect it! We must be good partners with the workers on the land and in the lab. We must always strive to do more and better for our planet and our people as individuals and as a company. Every day, we must remember that we are stewards, not masters. This also informs how I teach as a steward of this craft and how I run my company.

WITHOUT TRADITION,

ART IS A SHEPARDLESS FLOCK. WITHOUT INNOVATION,

IT’S A CORPSE.

In many ways, we are an old-school perfumery. Given my interest in history, I often look to the past for inspiration. However, I also recognise that as a woman who wasn’t born in Grasse and who sells her products online, I owe a great deal to innovation. I don’t hold to the idea that tradition and innovation are enemies. They are dear friends; I need them both to make beautiful products.

Remember, all the world is smoke and shadows. So don't take it too seriously and enjoy our little phantasmagoria.
